On January 16, 2025 we had a capacity-building training session for local government chairmen in Osun State, under the umbrella body of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON).

The training covered two strategic cores of governance at the grassroots – Needs Assessment and Participatory Budgeting as well as Enhancing Civic Engagement at the grassroots.

Our facilitators were Dr. Mutiu Iyanda of Infoprations and Associate Professor Rasheed Adebiyi of Fountain University, Osogbo.

Their presentations hinged on putting the people first, enhancing civic engagement, building public trust, fostering development and building a legacy of accountability and transparency at the grassroots.

The chairmen were also taken through our all-in-one Artificial Intelligence (AI) ChatBot – Amoye, a platform that provides all you need to know about council areas in Osun, Monthly FAAC Allocations, Focal Primary Healthcare Centres, among other vital information.

It also offers a platform for engagement between elected officials, the media, the people and all other stakeholders in the polity.

Recall that since inception, the Osun Open Local Government Project has capitalised on an hands on approach to promoting inclusive participation, accountability and transparency as well as good governance at the grassroots.

The project is supported by the Nigeria Youth Futures Fund (NYFF).
